Midwestern Stories – Kathryn Ludwig

Midwestern Stories invites visitors to take a fresh look at a familiar space, exploring the complex landscape that is alternately celebrated as America’s “Heartland” and derided as “Flyover Country.” The project’s focus on individual stories reflects an awareness that the Midwest is host to a great variety of people and experiences that resist broad characterizations.

Midwestern Stories was born as a class project at Ball State University, led by English professor Kathryn Ludwig. The work exhibited is that of the students, who took the project to heart, interviewing those living in the Midwest to learn more about their daily lives.

The exhibit will be hosted at the Blackford County Arts Center in Hartford City, Indiana from January 10 – February 24. A reception will be held on Sunday, February 13 from 2 PM – 4 PM.
