grand lake area literature festival

The mission of the Grand Lake Area Literature Festival is to enrich lives with literature. There will be a total of 19 authors at this event on Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 – 3:00 PM. The topics covered will include a wide variety, from Ohio-true crime (David Kimmel’s Outrage in Ohio) to encouraging healthy choices in children (Lauren Pax Cole’s The Journey to Me: A 21-Day Mindfulness Workbook for Kids). Mark your calendars – this is an event you don’t want to miss!

Author and illustrator Merril Rainey has written two ‘paper engineering’ books, Color, Cut, Create: Dinosaur World and Color, Cut Create: Horse Ranch. These two books are available for reservation online now and will be available for purchase at the festival. The festival will also be the kick-off for the Color, Cut, Create Contest, in which children will create a diorama with materials for the book and then enter it into a contest where Mr. Rainey will choose a Grand Prize Winner! Dioramas also be on display at the Auglaize/Mercer of Arts Place so that a People’s Choice winner can be selected. More details forthcoming.

Character Sketch Scavenger Hunt

Our authors have prepared ten character designs for children to fill in! Create your own character, drop it off at the Auglaize/Mercer Center of Arts Place before April 9th, and then see if you can find your character hiding amongst the authors on the day of the literature festival!

Thank You!
