Cathy Liening, CRCreations2

The work of Cathy Liening of CRCreations2 will be on display at the Auglaize/Mercer Center of Arts Place from Wednesday, March 30 – Friday, April 29. There will be a reception on Saturday, April 16 from 1 – 3 PM.

Cathy writes:

“I grew up in a house surrounded by original art. My two uncles, Walter and Fred Chapman, were renowned artists, both with their own unique styles in watercolor. Walter’s impressionist seascapes evoked my fondest memories of times on the lake with my family. Fred’s realistic wildlife paintings brought the beauty of nature inside my home. As a child I took those works of art for granted, as an adult I appreciate the invaluable gift we possessed.

Now retired, I decided to channel my uncles’ spirit and try my hand at painting. While I don’t aspire to their level of master, a sense of well-being and calm takes over me when I’m creating. Like my mother-in-law, an avid quilter, used to say, “Nothing hurts when I’m sewing.” Nothing hurts when I’m creating.

My husband Roger and I are a team. I bring the creative force, he brings the carpentry skills to design, adjust and create our projects.

My hope is that these art forms will stir up a cherished memory, a peaceful moment, or transport you to a safe, happy place. To me that is the essence of art, a tangible work that elicits deep feelings within the observer.

May you be surrounded by the magic of art, whether a crayon drawing by a child or a classic by one of the masters or a creation of your own.

Enjoy,

Cathy Liening.”
